Mazda Driver's Choice Event

A recent study was done to get people’s impressions on three premium vehicles, one of which was a Mazda. Two versions of the test were done, one on sedans and the other involving SUVs.  The individuals were real people, not actors, who owned vehicles made by premium competitors. They put the vehicles to the test by reviewing the interior, exterior, and driving dynamics of each vehicle. All the cars were camouflaged and their logos were hidden to get rid of any possible bias.

So, what were the results?

An overwhelming majority of those who participated rated the Mazdas as being on the same level as premium vehicles. This was the case for both tests—the Mazda sedan and Mazda SUV were constantly picked as the vehicle that the participants wanted to drive. Their comments had to do with design, craftsmanship, and driving dynamics.

The participants in the sedan study had comments such as “great handling,” and were impressed by the intuitiveness of the vehicle. In terms of design, they felt the stitching in the leather added a great sense of refinement, and that the sculptural lines of the car really stood out among the rest.

Here are a few of the features you get with Mazda sedans:

  • i-ACTIVSENSE® for added safety
  • Contoured seats
  • EPA-estimated 37 highway MPG
  • BOSE® Surround Sound System

In the sedan study, the Mazda6 was rated against the Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

When it came time to test the SUVs, the participants felt as though the Mazda vehicle was responsive and easy to control. When it came to design, the leather materials felt “very well crafted,” and the bold lines of the SUV really got their attention.

Here are some features on Mazda SUVs that we think are worth knowing about:

  • Intuitive Active Driving Display
  • Adaptive Front-lighting system
  • Power Liftgate
  • Sound enhancements for a quieter cabin

In this study, the Mazda CX-9 was rated against the Infiniti QX60 and the Acura MDX.
